Modified Motor Vehicles Travel Speed Models on the Basis of Curb Parking Setting under Mixed Traffic Flow

چکیده
The ongoing controversy about inwhat condition shouldwe set the curb parking has few definitive answers because comprehensive research in this area has been lacking. Our goal is to present a set of heuristic urban street speed functions under mixed traffic flow by taking into account impacts of curb parking. Two impacts have been defined to classify and quantify the phenomena of motor vehicles’ speed dynamics in terms of curb parking. The first impact is called Space impact, which is caused by the curb parking types. The other one is the Time impact, which results from the driver maneuvering in or out of parking space. In this paper, based on the empirical data collected from six typical urban streets in Nanjing, China, two models have been proposed to describe these phenomena for one-way traffic and two-way traffic, respectively. An intensive experiment has been conducted in order to calibrate and validate these proposed models, by taking into account the complexity of the model parameters. We also provide guidelines in terms of how to cluster and calculate those models’ parameters. Results from these models demonstrated promising performance of modeling motor vehicles’ speed for mixed traffic flow under the influence of curb parking.

Optimal Allocation of Electric Vehicles' Parking Lots in Distribution System Considering Urban Traffic
Abstract: Parking lots for electric vehicles (EVs) can make good utilization of the EVschr('39') battery capacity due to the large number of EVs. However, the location and size of parking lots will affect the distribution network condition. In this paper, a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) model is proposed for locating and determining the optimal capacity of EVschr('39') parking lots co...
متن کاملInfluence on Vehicle Speed Profiles of Interactions with Other Road Users
Speed profiles for motor vehicles on urban streets are influenced not only by the street design and traffic performance, events such as interactions with pedestrians and cyclists, buses, on-street parking, exits from minor roads etc. (called “side-friction events”) also affect driver behaviour. A bottom-up research methodology was developed and applied including a wide range of stationary and m...
متن کاملEvaluation of Methods for Computing Free-Flow Speed and Its Significance in the HCM 2010; Case Study: A Ramp-Weaving Segment
The core methodology of the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM) 2010 for freeway analyses is based on Free-Flow Speed (FFS). Moreover, weaving segments are major elements of freeway facilities that form where two one-way traffic streams intersect by merging and diverging maneuvers. Hence, this study used three different methods to compute FFS of a ramp-weaving segment, and then employed the proposed ...

Abstract—Present study is carried out on six lane divided urban arterial road in Patna and Pune city of India. Both the road having distinct differences in terms of the vehicle composition and the road side parking. Arterial road in Patan city has 33% of non-motorized mode, whereas Pune arterial road dominated by 65% of Two wheeler. Also road side parking is observed in Patna city. The field st...

In this project we investigate the effect of heavy-duty trucks, equipped with different Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems, operating in mixed traffic with manually driven passenger vehicles, on the environment and traffic flow characteristics. The sluggish dynamics of trucks whether manual or ACC that is due to their limited acceleration capabilities filters speed disturbances caused by lea...
